CHILD'S SAVINGS ACCOUNT PROGRAM

CalKIDS is the long-awaited children’s savings account program that offers all newborns and eligible low-income public school students in California between $25 and $1,500 to start saving for college and career training. CALIFRONIA VOTING RIGHTS ACT

Information on CVRA (California Voting Rights Act)

TUSD Board is taking steps toward creating seven separate trustee districts, eliminating the current at-large system of electing school board members:

Board members are currently elected in “at-large” elections, where each member is elected by voters throughout the District. The California Voting Rights Act (“CVRA”) prohibits the use of “at-large” elections in certain circumstances. Thus, in light of the CVRA, many school district and local agencies have transitioned from at-large to by-trustee area elections to avoid the cost associated with CVRA litigation. Many nearby local agencies have already made this transition or are in the process of doing so.

Please visit our Board Agenda Page
